Lipten To Upgrade Power System At General Motors, Oshawa, Ontario
Detroit / Montreal: Aug. 12 -- LIPTEN Energy Canada, Inc. of Greenfield Park, QC, the Canadian subsidiary of LIPTEN Power of Wixom, Michigan, a power plant engineering design/build provider, has been awarded a contract to upgrade the performance of powerhouse boilers at General Motors' Oshawa, Ontario, assembly plant.
A Tier One supplier to General Motors for 20-plus years, LIPTEN will automate existing dampers, replace existing mechanical dust collector with a 24-inch cone, high-efficiency unit, modernize the boiler combustion control system and upgrade coal stoker feeders with variable frequency drives.
Environmental limits for particulate and opacity will be improved while reducing maintenance, according to Jim Spencer, president of both companies.
Project work is scheduled for completion by November.
Paul Henry of Greenfield Park, QC, LIPTEN Energy Canada's regional operations manager, will direct the project with site management provided by John Barry of Niagara Falls, Ontario, a LIPTEN boiler specialist.
LIPTEN Company (www.lipten.com), serves an international clientele for design, installation and servicing of power generation and cogeneration systems. Branch offices are located in the Detroit, New York City and Montreal areas.
