Lipten Power to upgrade boiler system at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel
WIXOM, MI, - LIPTEN Power of Wixom, Michigan, a powerhouse engineering design/build provider, has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to provide engineering and supply two package boilers with related equipment to Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation’s Follansbee, West Virginia plant.
A heavy industry supplier for 35 years, LIPTEN will supply two 73,000 lbs/hr Babcock & Wilcox super-heated package boilers to be fired with coke oven gas, a by-product of the blast furnaces. Back-up fuel is natural gas.
Other LIPTEN-supplied equipment includes Bloom Engineering Low NOx burners with associated fuel trains, managed by a LIPTEN-engineered programmable logic control (PLC) system utilizing Allen-Bradley components.
Additional LIPTEN-supplied equipment includes Sheldon Engineering combustion air fans and a 320,000 lbs/hr Econdyne Ltd. deaerator system.
Equipment start-up will be provided by LIPTEN, as well as all related upgrading of the infrastructure to accommodate the installations.
